Interlude

Kantai Collection World, at the teleported Azur Lane Naval Base, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean:

Observer Alpha is working hard on organizing the stream of data about the Abyssals - either from dissection of dead Abyssals or from underwater drones, into the base's computer terminals.

"It seems that aside from the 'Princesses' and 'Demons', some lower class humanoid abyssals can gain intelligence as well. Not to mention all of them have abnormally low body temperatures. Such fascinating creatures.", she muses.

Her work is interrupted when Akashi, who was at R&D minutes prior.
"Did you see the Admiral, nya? I tried to find him, but he's nowhere to be seen."

Observer Alpha replies:
"Father has disappeared?....Have you tried asking the shipgirls? They might have seen him."

Akashi: I did call both the kanmusu and our shipgirls. They were just as clueless as me. Last thing I had heard fromhim before he seemingly disappeared was "Imma bought some flowers"

Observer Alpha: Flowers? I wonder it's for whom?

Akashi: No idea, nya.

Observer Alpha: Guess we'll can only wait for him to reappear.

On a world far, far away, on top of a grassland somewhere at Pearl Harbor, there lies a tombstone. A simple tombstone for an extraordinary person. This is the final resting place of the Creator of the Kaiserreich, Bastion of Mankind, the H-class battleship that once roamed the seven seas.....

Großer Kurfürst.
Or shall we say....Mathilde Hering.

From nearby, a man whose naval uniform indicates the rank of Fleet Admiral walk slowly to her resting place, his hands holding an exquisite flower bouquet and a model of the heroine herself. All to pay his respect to a person he has never even met, whose deeds he only heard just recently. One may ask why he even cares about a stranger, but he pays no mind of it. All he cares is the woman he's paying respects to is a bona fide heroine, a lady who's lived through the eras, been through hell and back, died a warrior's death. To him, anyone who fight for a just cause is worthy of respect, familiarity be damned.

"It's a shame that I couldn't meet you in person.", the man muses. "Despite only hearing about you recently from my creator, I still wish we could have met and have a conversation."

He carefully places the bouquet and the H-44 model closely to her memorial. "Perhaps she's also content with her life.", the man thinks.

"I probably should give a 21-gunshots salute. An overdue one for an otherworlder, but it's my thought that counts.", he comments.

Summoning a Gewehr 43, he points the rifle, emptying the 10-rounds magazine. He loads another, resume firing, then loads and fire one last bullet.

"Rest in peace, the woman I have never met.",  he said. The man then walks away in the same moment when the heroine's children arrive, no doubt startled by the gunshots. He glances at them for a few moments, before opening a portal and leaves.

A/N:
Elect0sharkus , this is for your magnificent character. I really like Großer Kurfürst.

Back to the Kantai Collection World:

Akashi is anxiously waiting for her commander to return. In all of a sudden, he appears behind her.
" 'Sup, Akashi? You've been waiting for me?"

Akashi: Since when does you return?

Arthur: A few seconds ago.

Akashi: Where did you go to, nya?

Arthur: A hilltop very far from here. That's all you need to know.

In his office, he comments, with a humorless chuckle:
"Were it not for the 4th wall, this strange one could have go and meet you, Großer Kurfürst."
